Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 14, 1970) is an American writer and actor. The twice Golden Globe Award winning star made a name for herself by playing the role in CBS's One Day at a Time in the role of Barbara, and Hot in Cleveland in which she portrayed Melanie Moretti. Her career as an actress began as just a teenager. Her career has evolved into a well-seasoned character actress. Her friendship with the daughter of a TV producer when she was a little girl imbibed in her an interest in industry and she opted to pursue acting professionally. Bertinelli began her career as a television host after completing her studies at the Tami Lynn School of Artists. With her confident poise and a great acting ability, she carved out a niche for herself soon and became a much sought-after television personality.
